Water is an essential thing for both human beings and animals. It plays an important role for human survival. Missing water means that no one can exist. We use water for several things like cooking food, washing clothes, bathing, sanitation, drinking among many others.
The Eastleigh community hadn’t enough water for a long time, there were only wells from City Council in Nairobi, although it was difficulty to cover the whole community. After that some people begun building houses and digging wells to provide them with alternative water source.
The community has two sources of getting water, the city councils and wells. When people want to rent a house usually ask the houses owner if the house has water. Some people prefer water from the city council wells, because they believes its clear than house’s wells, while others believe that drinking water from bottles causes disease.
My apartment has its own well. Water is available as from 3:00 pm in the evening up to 10:00 Am the next day, we miss it only three hours of the 12hours in a day. Nowadays the good thing is that every house in Eastleigh has drilled its own well, 95% percent of the houses in Eastleigh have their own wells and that is why you can’t find the community complaining about lack of water which is clean.
